A vinophile journey through time

Viticulture has been in the family for a long time. Because, as was customary in the past, everything that had to do with agriculture was included in the business. In the Moselle region, this also included the cultivation of vineyards and the production of wine. Read here how it all began.

1954

THE FIRST TRACTOR

Modern technology makes its way into the farm with the acquisition of the first new tractor. Josef Jakoby, sitting on the wheel, with family members and harvest workers.

1961

GRANDDAD WILL FIX IT

Josef Jakoby bottled and sold wine for the first time. At that time, the farm was 0.6 hectares in size. At that time, only Riesling was pressed and produced.

1971

THE NEW WINERY COMES INTO BEING

The former family home of grandma Rosemarie, née Gödert, is rebuilt and from then on serves as a residence and winery. In 1984, guest rooms were added for overnight stays at the winery.

1988

THE WINE TASTING ROOM

The tasting room is completely renovated and awakens from its slumber. Here we take time for you and spend pleasant hours together with cheerful wine tastings.

1990

THE SPECTACULAR ICE WINE HARVEST

Ice wine is a very special treasure that cannot be harvested every year. The conditions must be right. The grapes hang on the vine for a very long time, because they may only be harvested at a cold of -7 degrees.

1993, 1994, 1996

THE NEW GENERATION IS HERE

Hans Josef and Karin Jakoby are happy about the birth of their children Lenz, Marie and Florian. Life becomes more exciting and lively at the Jakoby home. Karin is fully occupied with the growing family and the guest room rental business, and the winery continues to flourish.

1994

HANS CAN DO IT...

Hans Josef Jakoby, the son of the family, joins the winery as farm manager. Now 1.4 hectares of vineyards are cultivated.

2005

THE NEW LABEL DESIGN

How do you manage to express the top quality of the wine visually as well? The answer to this question sets the course for a unique wine label design that is still distinctive and timeless today.
The following grape varieties are on offer: Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Kerner, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Domina and Rotling. Winery sparkling wine after classic bottle fermentation, sparkling Secco, ripe Beerenauslese and brandies in different flavours round off the programme.

2009

A NEW WINE PRESS HOUSE IS BEING BUILT

Due to the steady growth of the company, the space for production is no longer sufficient by far - time to build a wine press house.

2011

CELLAR TECHNOLOGY IN THE CHANGE OF TIME

In the past, the wine could only mature in oak barrels. Today, we increasingly use modern, air-sealing steel tanks for production, which largely protects the young wine from oxidation during its maturation. This is especially true for the production of white wine. Red wines, on the other hand, prefer oxidative ageing in oak barrels, which also impart the special barrique flavour. State-of-the-art cellar technology at its best. The wine-growing area is 2.4 ha

2014-2017

OUR WINE QUEEN MARIE I.

Together with her wine princesses Angelina and Corinna, our Marie takes office as wine queen Marie I.. We are proud and happy with her about the responsible task of representing and representing the wine from our region.

2018

A RECORD VINTAGE

2018 was a great year for the Mosel. Fantastic weather conditions and maximum preparation in the vineyards made for our first ever Trockenbeerenauslese, along with amazing whites and Burgundies. The Rieslings from this vintage will also go down in history as some of the best of the last 100 years.

Today

THE JAKOBY WINERY
